Message to the Tuesday group (L3)

November 20th, 2007

Dear students (the Tuesday group),

Only one student was able to come to class this morning. We waited until 8:30 for the rest of the students to come but nobody turned in. As a result, the class was cancelled.

For next Tuesday, do listen to the interview by Yunus and try to answer the questions (and use quotations to justify your answers) on the handout I have posted on this link :

Message to the Thursday group (L3)

November 15th, 2007

Dear students (the Thursday group),

Despite the strike and the attempts to prevent students from entering the university which was open, we had a class today. We finished the questions on Andrew Keen ("Internet Kills Culture") and we worked on text completion (fill in the gaps - see folder "Internet Kills Culture", see the link below).

Next Thursday (November 22nd), we will work on Ambrose and the issue of plagiarism.

I strongly recommend that you prepare this new subject on plagiarism and answer all the questions.

Be careful, to answer the first 12 questions, you will need the New York Times article and for the rest of the questions, you will have to listen and/or watch the report from PBS (there is no transcript at all !).

Everything (handouts, reports, article, etc.) is available from this link :

Message to the Tuesday group (L3)

November 07th

Dear students (the Tuesday group),

This is just a reminder that this class is under the scheme of "contrĂ´le continu" which means you all have to take the first exam which is scheduled for November 13th.

As a result, there is no "contrĂ´le final" or "session de rattrapage" at all and failing to take this first exam will mean a zero.

Best regards,

Mounir Nassor

Message to the Tuesday group (L3)

October 23rd

Dear students (the Tuesday group),

Remember what I said last time : there is no class on October 30th and, as we had convened, we will make it up on Friday, November 9th from 8:00 to 10:00 in room F368.

The first exam is scheduled for November 13th.

The debate and article on Ambrose is available from this link :

I apologise again for the inconvenience.

Message to the Thursday group (L3)

October 18th

Dear students of the Thursday group,

Because of the strike today, I was not able to make it to La Sorbonne today though I tried very hard ! I live in the northeastern suburbs of Paris, the train stations were closed (RER B) and the metro from La Courneuve was not working at all. So is life !...

We will catch up this class some time in November. Remember what I said last week : there is no class next week (Oct 25) and, of course, the following week (Nov 1 : legal holiday).

Our next class will be on Nov 8th. We will catch up both these missed classes during the month of November and, if need be, in December (most probably on Saturday Nov 10th from 9 to 11 and/or on Friday Nov 23th from 8 to 10). The first exam is planned for Nov 29th but I will confirm everything next time on Nov 8th.

You can start working on Ambrose and Plagiarism : there is an article from the New York Times and an interview from PBS :

My sincere apologies for the inconvenience and very best regards,
